Youth Day

YOUTH DAY WITH OUR LOCAL POLICE.

Wow!! What an action packed day Room 6 had with our six Local police. Our six local police offices came to our school and helped us with teamwork and to have fun.

When the six police officers arrived at  our school they took the whole school out to play some fun activities. The first activity my group played, was this water balloon game. One thing I learnt from that game was how to work as team and don’t put the rest of my teammates off from trying to get the balloon into the bucket.

Another activity was to dress up as a police officer and run to the cone and back. In this activity my group and I had to think fast by getting the clothes off  that person fast and then dress the other person, until everyone in my  group had a turn at dressing up.

Today I enjoyed Youth Day with our six police officers because they put a smile on everybody's faces and they made our day even funnier.

….A fantastic Day….

A Fantastic Day with  our six local police; it was an action packed day to end the week

Our local Kaikohe police youth officers helped us to improve our skills in teamwork. They also worked with every student in Tautoro School. It was a very energising day with all the fun activities and our police officers helped us because they wanted us to feel good about ourselves in a good learning environment.

Some of the cool activities we were participating in were... running around the cones with a police suit on. I struggled in this as I found it hard to put the clothes on because the uniform was so big and it was floppy when you ran.  Then we tried to kick the ball while you looked through these ‘drunk glasses’ you would wobble when you walked, so you couldn't stand up.

Then we went over to a very complicated teamwork lesson you had to walk the plank without falling off, onto the grass. There were about five people squeezing onto the plank. You all had to step onto the front plank and pick up the plank behind you as the group stepped off it. Jade found this hard.

After all the cool exciting activities, we had to go to lunch and that meant going back to class. My Highlights of the day, was hanging out with the police and having fun when I participated in all of the activities.

WOW!! Last friday we played some fun activities with the local police but to complete these activities we had to work as a team. Our local police visited our school because they wanted to work with kids in a positive way.

The first activity we participated in was scooping water out of a bucket and fulling up another bucket with water. While your team mate was doing star jumps, you had to run a lap with a cup of water and the cup had holes at the bottom and the water leaked out.  My team’s bucket ran out of water and we hadn’t finished the activity so I grabbed some water from the other team’s bucket. I was sort of cheating but it was all fun.

The second activity we participated in, was trying to kick a ball off a rugby-T with ‘drunk’in goggles’ on. When I had no glasses on the ball was in front of me and my feet and brain knew where to kick but when I put the goggles on, the ball was to the left a little bit. So my trick was to just run straight and kick the ball, I tried my theory and I missed and I fell over. I got back up and handed the goggles over to the next person, thinking, how did I miss that ball.

The next activity we participated in, really required us to work as a team. We chose a partner and we had to tie a rope to our legs and use that leg like it was one. My partner and I used our outside legs at the same time. We had to hold a ping pong ball on a spoon, we had to go really slow so it didn't fall off the spoon.

We also had to work as a team getting over the lava only using two planks of wood. The back person had to pick up the back wood and pass it up to the front. Then the team jumped on the new plank and did the same thing again by picking up the plank behind us and passing it to the front.

At the last activity we had to dress our team mate in a police uniform and race each other in a 15 metre sprint. Your team helped you dress and undress quickly, this is how you won the race.

It was a great day to celebrate Youth Day, I really enjoyed it.
