Terrible Floods In Northland.

I hope no one has been affected by the floods last weekend, especially our whanau down Orakau Road. The school seems to be ok, compared to our local schools, like Moerewa, which were covered with a metre of water. The roads to school have definitely been churned up and in some parts, the water looks like it's been eating away at the sides of the ditches or even underneath the tarseal.

I know we are in for more bad weather this weekend, so hopefully it doesn't cause anymore damage to our roads and whenua.

On Monday 21st July, the first day of Term 3, please take care when travelling to school. Buckle up and drive at a slower pace than usual, as our roads are in a sub-standard condition. Please be very aware that Mangakahia Road has more traffic on the road, due to SH1 closure, so please travel with care.

See you all on Monday.

Oh yes, I thought I would post this short film by Shawn King about our beautiful town Moerewa. I loved how Shawn used the Treaty of Waitangi as a backdrop and the strong messages he used to reflect the resilience and heart of our whanau in Moerewa.

Inquiry Question: How would you represent your whanau and your community in times of great devastation?
