March of the Penguins.

This week for AVAILLL we are focusing on 'March of the Penguins.'

The lesson WALT: read like we talk.

What a beautiful movie to watch and read. The movie script is enhanced by strong visual images... but what if you can not see the film?... what if your teacher turns off the video link? Can you still see images in your mind?

We need to use F.U.N = Fluency, Understanding, Native Image to help us improve our reading skills. Good readers use the punctuation marks to help them phrase the text better, when they read out aloud, just like the narrator of this movie, Morgan Freeman. If you phrase your reading correctly, then you are able to understand the text. If you understand the text then you are able to visualise what is happening in the reading.

Room 6 was given a script to practice on for 3 days because most students stated in their reading goals; I must practice my reading at home. HMmmmmmm I wonder who is working towards their reading goals? Click on a students blog to see.
